Diagnostic System Check

NOTE: For RPO 9C3 and 9C6 equipped (Police & Taxi) vehicles, start at step 5).
  1. Turn ignition switch to START position. If engine starts and security indicator is illuminated for 5 seconds, then turns off, go to next step. If engine or light does not operate as specified, perform appropriate test(s). See TESTS NO. 1-7 under SYMPTOM TESTING.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect 2-pin lock cylinder harness connector at base of steering column. Connect PASS-Key II(R) Interrogator (J 35628-A) to both connectors. Insert ignition key in PASS-Key II(R) Interrogator (J 35628-A) and read key code. Set key code selector on Interrogator to another code. Turn ignition switch to START position. If engine does not crank and security light is illuminated, go to next step. If engine or light does not operate as specified, perform appropriate test(s). See TESTS NO. 5 and NO. 6 under SYMPTOM TESTING.
  3. Within 3 minutes of performing step 2), turn ignition off, disconnect Interrogator and reconnect connectors. Turn ignition switch to START position. If engine does not crank and security light is illuminated, go to next step. If engine or light does not operate as specified, perform appropriate test(s). See TESTS NO. 5 and NO. 6 under SYMPTOM TESTING.
  4. Turn ignition off. Wait 3-4 minutes. Turn ignition switch to START position. If engine starts and security indicator is illuminated for 5 seconds, then turns off, check is complete. If engine or light does not operate as specified, perform appropriate test(s). See TESTS NO. 1-7 under SYMPTOM TESTING.
    NOTE: Following check step is for RPO 9C3 and 9C6 equipped vehicles only. Test light is used in place of security indicator light.
  5. Connect test light between Data Link Connector (DLC) terminals No. 8 (Gray wire) and No. 16 (Orange wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Turn ignition switch to START position. If engine starts and test light flashes, check is complete. If engine or light does not operate as specified, perform appropriate test(s). See TESTS NO. 8-11 under SYMPTOM TESTING.
