Data Link Communications System Check

Use scan tool and attempt to communicate with any of modules applicable to vehicle. If scan tool screen is blank or there is no power to scan tool, see SCAN TOOL INOPERATIVE .
Select "diagnostics circuit check, Class 2 DTC check" from scan tool menu. Perform the following:
- For DTC U1016, see SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH COMPONENTS .
- For DTC U1041, DTC U1192 or For DTC U1193, see appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
- For DTC U1255, see SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH COMPONENTS .
- If there is no communication with vehicle or with diagnostic link connector, see SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH COMPONENTS .
Select "body diagnostics" from scan tool menu. Select "SIR UART data line information". Access DTCs using scan tool. If there is no communication with vehicle or with data link connector, see SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH COMPONENTS .
Establish communication with Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM). Access DTCs using scan tool. If there is no communication with vehicle or with data link connector, see SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH COMPONENTS .
Establish communication with PCM/VCM. Access DTCs using scan tool. If there is no communication with vehicle or diagnostic link connector, see SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH COMPONENTS .
