ETS Off Indicator Operates Improperly
- Turn ETS switch on. If ETS indicator illuminates continuously with no loss of serial data, go to next step. If ETS indicator does not illuminate continuously with no loss of serial data, go to step 5).
- Connect scan tool. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, enter SDL monitor mode. Monitor communication between Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) and instrument cluster. If ETS OFF indicator is not enabled, go to next step. If ETS OFF indicator is enabled, locate and repair problem in ABS and traction control system. See ANTI-LOCK/TCS article in BRAKES section. Recheck system operation.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect enhanced traction control switch connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If ETS OFF indicator does not turn off, go to next step. If ETS OFF indicator turns off, replace enhanced traction control switch. Recheck system operation.
- Check for short to ground in Brown/White wire between instrument cluster and enhanced traction control switch. Repair as necessary and recheck system operation. If circuit is okay, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system operation.
- Connect scan tool. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, monitor ETS switch in instrument cluster data list. Turn ETS switch off. If ETS switch display is ON, go to next step. If ETS switch display is OFF, replace instrument cluster. See procedures in INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system operation.
- Disconnect enhanced traction control switch connector. Connect a test light between enhanced traction control switch harness connector terminal "A" (Black wire) and battery voltage. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, repair open in Black wire between enhanced traction control switch and ground. Recheck system operation.
- Check for open in Brown/White wire between instrument cluster and enhanced traction control switch. Repair as necessary and recheck system operation. If circuit is okay, replace enhanced traction control switch. Recheck system operation.
