DTC B2958: PASSLOCK(R) Sensor Data Circuit High: Testing

  1. Perform system check. See SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM TESTING. Go to next step.
  2. Using scan tool, check for VCM DTCs. If an incorrect password DTC exists, go to next step. If an incorrect password DTC does not exist, go to step 4).
  3. If ignition was turned quickly off then on while running, this DTC and/or an incorrect password DTC may be set. Record any other DTCs and clear all DTCs. Perform SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM TESTING.
  4. Ensure ignition is on. Using scan tool, read PASSLOCK(R) sensor signal voltage. If voltage is 4.5 volts or more, go to next step. If voltage is less than 4.5 volts, replace PASSLOCK(R) sensor. Go to step 9).
  5. Turn ignition off. Disconnect PASSLOCK(R) module and PASSLOCK(R) 3-pin sensor connectors. Check voltage between PASSLOCK(R) module harness connector terminal B7 (Yellow wire) and ground. If voltage is less than one volt, go to next step. If voltage is one volt or more, repair short to voltage in Yellow wire between PASSLOCK(R) module harness connector terminal B7 and PASSLOCK(R) 3-pin sensor connector C266 terminal D3. Go to step 9).
  6. Check resistance of Yellow wire between PASSLOCK(R) module harness connector terminal B7 and PASSLOCK(R) 3-pin sensor connector C266 terminal D3. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10 ohms or more, repair open in Yellow wire between PASSLOCK(R) module harness connector terminal B7 and PASSLOCK(R) 3-pin sensor connector C266 terminal D3. Go to step 9).
  7. Check resistance of Orange/Black wire between PASSLOCK(R) module harness connector terminal B5 and PASSLOCK(R) 3-pin sensor connector C266 terminal C4. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10 ohms or more, repair open in Orange/Black wire between PASSLOCK(R) module harness connector terminal B5 and PASSLOCK(R) 3-pin sensor connector C266 terminal C4. Go to step 9).
  8. Reconnect PASSLOCK(R) module and PASSLOCK(R) sensor connectors. Turn ignition on. Disconnect PASSLOCK(R) sensor connector. Check voltage between PASSLOCK(R) 3-pin sensor connector C266 terminals D3 (Yellow wire) and C4 (Orange/Black wire). If voltage is 4 volts or less, replace PASSLOCK(R) module. See PASSLOCK(R) MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Go to next step. If voltage is more than 4 volts, check PASSLOCK(R) sensor mounting, magnet and other mechanical parts. Repair as necessary. If no problem is found, replace PASSLOCK(R) sensor. Go to next step.
  9. Reconnect all connectors and components. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, clear all DTCs. Perform reprogramming procedure. See PROGRAMMING  . Perform SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM TESTING.
