Disabling System

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix, 1997 Buick Regal, and 1997 Buick Century. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: When AIR BAG fuse is removed and ignition switch is in RUN, the AIR BAG warning light will be on. This does not indicate a system malfunction.
  1. Turn steering wheel to place vehicle wheels in straight-ahead position. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position.
  2. Remove AIR BAG fuse (Buick) or SIR fuse (Pontiac) from instrument panel fuse block. Remove left instrument panel insulator. Remove Connector Position Assurance (CPA) clip and disconnect driver-side Yellow 2-way connector at base of steering column. Remove instrument panel compartment (glove compartment) insulator. Disconnect passenger-side CPA and passenger-side Yellow 2-way connector, located near base of steering column. System is now disabled.
