Removal & Installation
- ABS modulator/motor pack assembly is located in engine compartment, attached to master cylinder. Using scan tool, select GEAR TENSION RELIEF and perform function. Turn ignition off. Disconnect 2 solenoid electrical connectors located on top of ABS modulator. Disconnect brake fluid level switch electrical connector.CAUTION: DO NOT allow brake fluid to contact motor pack or electrical connectors. Premature failure of motor pack may result.
- Disconnect motor pack electrical connector. Position shop towel below 4 ABS modulator brake pipe fittings and disconnect brake pipes from ABS modulator. Plug brake pipe openings to prevent fluid loss and contamination.
- Remove 2 nuts attaching ABS modulator/motor pack and master cylinder assembly to vacuum booster. It may be necessary to remove vacuum check valve from vacuum booster to access nut closest to check valve.
- Remove ABS modulator/motor pack and master cylinder assembly from vehicle. If separation of ABS modulator, motor pack and master cylinder is necessary, go to DISASSEMBLY. To install, reverse removal procedure. Bleed brake system. See BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM .
