Both Headlight Doors Always Open
- Check headlight system operation. If headlights operate properly, go to next step. If headlights do not operate properly, locate and repair problem in headlight system. See HEADLIGHT SYSTEMS & DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS article.
- Turn headlights off. Disconnect HDM 5-pin connector C1. See Figure . Using DVOM, check voltage between HDM connector C1 terminal "C" (Dark Green wire) and ground. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, go to step 7).
- Check voltage between HDM connector C1 terminal "D" (Black wire) and ground. If voltage is one volt or less, go to step 6). If voltage is not one volt or less, go to next step.
- Disconnect splice pack No. 100 connector. Splice pack No. 100 is forward lamp harness attached to G102, mounted to rear of right wheelwell. Using DVOM, check resistance between HDM connector C1 terminal "D" (Black wire) and splice pack No. 100 harness connector terminal "D" (Black wire). If resistance is 5 ohms or less, locate and repair problem in ground distribution system. See GROUND DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS. If resistance is not 5 ohms or less, go to next step.
- Repair open in Black wire between HDM connector C1 and splice pack No. 100. Go to step 12).
- Replace HDM. Go to step 12).
- Disconnect underhood electrical center connector C2. Using DVOM, check voltage between underhood electrical center harness connector C2 terminal E6 (Dark Green wire) and ground. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, go to step 9).
- Check for open in Light Blue or Dark Green wire between headlight switch, underhood electrical center and HDM. Check for open in circuit between underhood electrical center connector C2 terminal E6 and connector C3 terminal B6. Repair as necessary. Go to step 12).
- Disconnect connector C211 (instrument panel-to-steering column harness at base of steering column). Using DVOM, check resistance between underhood electrical center connector C2 terminal E6 (Dark Green wire) and connector C211 harness connector terminal "T" (Dark Green wire). If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to step 11). If resistance is not 5 ohms or less, go to next step.
- Repair open in Dark Green wire between connector C211 and underhood electrical center connector C2. Go to step 12).
- Replace headlight switch. Go to step 12).
- Reinstall all connectors and components. Turn headlight switch off, then on. Ensure system operates properly.
