Removal & Installation: Spring: Installation

NOTE: To achieve the proper seating and attachment of the anchor plate over the spring and to the axle, the following procedure must be followed.
  1. Connect the spring to the hanger.
  2. Install the hanger bolt and nut. Do not tighten at this time.
  3. Connect the spring to the shackle.
  4. Install the shackle bolt and nut. Do not tighten at this time.
  5. Connect the axle to the spring. Raise the axle so it butts against the spring.
  6. Install the anchor plate to the top of the spring. Apply rubber lubricant to the isolator on the spring to aid in installation of anchor plate to spring.
  7. Lower plate and U-bolt around the axle and through the anchor plate. With a stabilizer shaft, it will be necessary to install clamps, washers, and nuts.
  8. NOTE: After tightening the fasteners to the specified torque, there should be no gap between the anchor plate, axle tube bracket, and lower plate. A metal to metal contact should exist.
  9. Connect nuts to lower plate and U-bolt. Starting with the inner (lower plate side) nuts, gradually tighten the four nuts so that the anchor plate moves uniformly, side to side, over the spring. Tighten the anchor plate nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  10. Install axle bumper and nut. Tighten the axle bumper nut, the hanger nut and bolt, and the shackle nut and bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  11. The rear suspension trim height should be 5.3-5.7" (135-145 mm.). See Figure .
