Description & Operation: Notes

Front system uses a positive park, 2-speed wiper motor. Combined wiper and washer switch, mounted on end of multifunction switch (turn signal) lever, controls system. Circuit breaker in wiper motor opens if current flow is excessive, then closes (resets) after it cools off. Motor contains a radio frequency interference suppressor.

Wiper motor can operate in high, low, pulse and mist mode. In pulse mode, wipers make single sweeps with an adjustable time interval between sweeps. A variable resistor (rheostat) in wiper switch provides input to a solid state pulse/speed/wash control board in wiper motor housing cover. Control board controls time interval (pulse) between sweeps. Control board is replaceable.

Rear system uses a positive park, single-speed wiper motor attached to rear door. In addition to ON and OFF positions, switch on instrument panel has momentary wash and wipe positions. Washer pump is in right front corner of engine compartment, inside washer fluid reservoir.
