Throttle position signal is used by EBTCM to monitor actual throttle position compared with desired throttle position. If EBTCM does not receive reference voltage or a TP sensor signal, DTC 64 will set. SERVICE ASR indicator will illuminate and TCS will be disabled. ABS will remain functional.

NOTE: Test numbers refer to circled numbers on diagnostic chart.

  1. Checks for PCM DTCs relating to TP sensor. Repair any problems causing TP sensor-related PCM DTCs before proceeding with ABS/TCS DTC 64 diagnosis.
  2. Checks for open in circuit No. 470.
  3. Checks for short to ground in circuit No. 417.
  4. Checks for short to ground in circuit No. 474.
  5. Checks for proper voltage in circuit No. 474 at EBTCM connection. This voltage measurement is only valid when EBTCM is disconnected from circuit.
  6. Checks for proper voltage in circuit No. 417 at EBTCM connection. This voltage measurement is only valid when EBTCM is disconnected from circuit.
  7. Ensures DTC 64 does not reset from a malfunctioning EBTCM.
