Accelerator Cable

  1. Remove splash cover, foam insert and cable cam cover from adjuster assembly. Release lock tab on Throttle Valve (TV) cable adjuster in cable between adjuster assembly and throttle body. See Fig 1 and Figure.
  2. Disconnect cruise control cable from cruise control servo. Hold throttle body linkage at idle (closed) position. Lock TV cable by pushing lock tab down into locked position. See Figure. Check that throttle body linkage returns to idle (closed) position.
  3. Using Tech 1 scan tester with a Mass Storage Cartridge (MSC), check throttle angle percentage by depressing accelerator pedal. With pedal fully depressed, throttle opening angle should be 100 percent.
  4. With pedal released, angle should be zero percent. If percentages are as specified, go to next step. If percentages are not as specified, check for kinked or damaged cables. If cables are okay, repeat accelerator cable adjustment procedure.
