Using Tech 1 scan tool, select "SDL Monitor" and observe any message being transmitted on serial data link. The frequency of malfunction can be checked by using the enhanced diagnostic feature of Tech 1 scan tool.

Any circuit suspected of causing intermittent problem should be thoroughly checked for backed-out terminals, improper mating, broken connector locks, damaged terminals or poor terminal-to-wiring connections.
