Speedometer & Odometer Do Not Operate

  1. Check VSS and VSS calibrator. See VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR & CALIBRATOR under TESTING . If VSS and VSS calibrator are okay, turn ignition off. Disconnect instrument cluster connector and vehicle control module C4 connector. Disconnect compass and temperature display module (if equipped). Connect a self-powered test light between instrument cluster connector terminal B14 (Dark Green wire) and ground. If test light does not come on, go to next step. If test light comes on, repair short to ground in Dark Green wire.
  2. Connect self-powered test light between instrument cluster connector terminal B14 (Dark Green wire) and vehicle control module connector C4, terminal No. 4 (Dark Green wire). If test light comes on, replace instrument cluster. If test light does not come on, repair open circuit in Dark Green wire.
