Ambient Light Sensor Check

  1. Enter Central Control Module (CCM) on-board diagnostic mode. See CCM ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTICS  . Select DISPLAY CCM DATA (trip monitor will display "1.2"). See Figure . In this mode, go to parameter 03 (ambient light sensor) shown in left side of odometer. Turn parking lights on.
  2. While observing right 3 numbers (ambient/data count) in odometer display, shine bright light into ambient light sensor on Driver Information Center (DIC). Ambient/data count should go to "0". Completely cover ambient light sensor using dark paper. Ambient/data count should increase to about 240. If ambient/data count responded as specified, no problem exists with ambient light sensor.
  3. If ambient/data count did not respond as specified, disconnect DIC Blue connector. If ambient/data count does not increase to about 255, check for short to ground in White wire between CCM and DIC. If White wire is okay, replace CCM.
  4. If ambient/data count increases to about 255 with DIC Blue connector disconnected, connect jumper between White and Black wires of DIC Blue connector. If ambient/data count decreases to "0", replace DIC.
  5. If ambient/data count does not decrease to "0", check for open in White wire between CCM and DIC. Also check for poor connection at White wire of CCM connector. If connection is okay, replace CCM.
