Entering Trouble Code Diagnosis
PKE system will flash a trouble code, based upon testing of certain functional parts of system, when diagnostics enable input is activated. Diagnostic mode will be accessed when key is in ignition, ignition is off, and Diagnostic Link Connector (DLC) terminal "H" has been grounded. PASSIVE KEYLESS ENTRY light in Driver Information Center (DIC) will flash one of 6 diagnostic trouble codes. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES IDENTIFICATION table.
Diagnostic trouble Codes 12, 13 and 14 display current status of system. Codes 15, 16 and 17 are actually functional codes which require transmitter to be in range to confirm receiver is functioning correctly.
| Diagnostic Condition | Code |
|---|---|
| Receiver Memory Bad | 12 |
| Transmitter Not In Range | 13 |
| Non-Valid Transmitter Received | 14 |
| Passenger Door Button Depressed | 16 |
| Hatch Button Depressed | 17 |
After Code(s) are displayed, go to PKE DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK chart under SYSTEM TESTING first (except for TRANSMITTER CANNOT BE PROGRAMMED and TRANSMITTER HAS NO HATCH RELEASE FUNCTION) when diagnosing passive keyless entry system. Diagnostic charts are symptom driven since no specific Code (except Code 12) can identify a system fault. See SYSTEM TESTING .
