Engine Cooling Fan: Operation: 3.1L

Engine Control Module (ECM) uses puller and pusher cooling fan relays to control puller and pusher cooling fan operation. Puller fan is located behind radiator and pusher fan is located in front of radiator.

ECM will energize puller fan when engine coolant temperature is greater than 223°F (106°C) or A/C is requested. After a 6 second delay, ECM will energize pusher fan in addition to puller fan when engine coolant temperature is greater than 230°F (110°C).

Both fans will turn off when engine coolant temperature is less than 217°F (103°C). If A/C head pressure is greater than 200 psi (14.1 kg/cm2 ), ECM will energize both puller and pusher fans. If vehicle speed is less than 5 MPH with A/C on, ECM will energize both puller and pusher fans. Both fans will continue to run for 45 seconds after A/C is turned off.
