Code A092 - Open Brake Switch Contacts (When Abs Required): Notes
This test detects a brake switch fault. When brake pedal is applied, brake switch closes and a voltage signal is sent to EBCM. EBCM looks for this signal to know when brake pedal has been applied. EBCM cannot activate ABS without this signal. Code A092 will set only when conditions requiring ABS are present. ABS warning light will be turned on.
NOTE:
Test numbers refer to numbers on diagnostic chart.
- This step determines if brake switch signal is being received by EBCM.
- This test isolates open circuit to brake switch or brakelight circuit.
- This test isolates open circuit to either brake switch input circuit or EBCM.
- This step verifies voltage is available at brake switch.
- This step verifies brake switch is functioning properly.
