Disabling SIR

  1. Position front wheels straight ahead. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove AIR BAG fuse. Remove lower trim panel located below steering column. Disconnect Yellow 2-pin SIR connector located at base of steering column.
  2. Wait at least 10 minutes before servicing vehicle, as the Diagnostic Energy Reserve Module (DERM) retains sufficient voltage to deploy SIR. With SIR system disabled and ignition on, INFL REST light will illuminate; this is normal and does not indicate an SIR malfunction.
