Code 44 - Pilot Valve Solenoid: Notes
Power to pilot valve solenoid circuit is supplied from battery when ignition is on. Valve functions are controlled by EBCM by grounding circuit when necessary.
SERVICE ABS and SERVICE ASR indicator lights will illuminate, valve relay will be turned off and Code 44 will be set if a discrepancy is sensed by EBCM, such as an open or ground in circuit.
NOTE:
Test numbers refer to circled numbers on diagnostic chart.
- Measures resistance in pilot valve solenoid circuitry.
- Checks for short to battery voltage in circuit No. 1683.
- Checks for short to ground in circuit No. 1683.
- Checks for a wiring or connector problem which could cause intermittent condition.
- Test uses Tech 1 "Scan" tester to check pilot valve solenoid operation.
- Determines if problem is set by intermittent condition or an EBCM fault.
- Determines if problem found in step 1) is due to faulty hydraulic modulator or an open in circuit No. 1683.
