Code 72 - EBCM Serial Data Link: Notes

Serial data link is an asynchronous link operating at 8192 bits per second. SERVICE ASR indicator light will illuminate and Code 72 will be set if EBCM detects 3 consecutive serial data link messages being ignored due to errors in transmission.

NOTE: Test numbers refer to circled numbers on diagnostic chart.
  1. Checks if off-board device can communicate with EBCM.
  2. Checks for short to battery voltage in ABS/ASR serial data circuit.
  3. Checks for short to ground in ABS/ASR serial data circuit.
  4. Checks for open in ABS/ASR serial data circuit.
  5. Checks if off-board device can communicate with EBCM.
  6. If connections at EBCM and ALDL connector are okay, replace EBCM.
