Clearing Fault Codes

  1. After all diagnosis and repairs are completed, turn ignition off. Using a jumper wire, ground ALDL connector terminal "G". See Figure. Turn ignition on. Press TRIP RESET button on DIC until "9.7" is displayed on trip monitor area of instrument cluster.
  2. Press and hold ENG MET button on DIC until "- - -" is displayed in speedometer area of instrument cluster (this clears ABS/ASR fault codes). Turn ignition off. Turn ignition on. Enter diagnostics and verify no fault codes are present for ABS/ASR system. Turn ignition off. Remove jumper wire from ALDL connector.
  3. Fault codes will be erased after 50 code free ignition cycles. EBCM ignition cycle counter will reset to zero.

(1) EBCM can only store up to 3 fault codes at a time.
(2) There are 2 separate diagnostic charts for TPS diagnosis: VIN J and VIN P. Ensure correct chart is used.
