WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 9 other vehicles, including the 1991 Pontiac Grand Prix, 1991 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, 1991 Buick Regal, 1990 Pontiac Grand Prix, and 1990 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
When brake pedal is applied, the brake switch closes. This causes voltage application from STOP fuse to the anti-lock brake controller and brakelights. To set Code A034, the following conditions must occur.
- Anti-lock brake controller senses battery voltage at terminal 1C11 at speeds greater than 25 MPH.
NOTE:
Test numbers refer to test numbers on diagnostic chart.
- Verifies short still exists (brakelights on).
- Isolates short to battery in circuit No. 20 or brake switch.
- If Code A034 is consistent and brake switch and circuit are okay, anti-lock brake controller must be defective.
- Determines if code is intermittent.
NOTE:
INTERMITTENTS is located under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
