NOTE: This bulletin cancels and supersedes Dealer Service Bulletin 88-368-6E dated November, 1988. All copies of 88-368-6E should be discarded. This bulletin provides a new labor operation and time allowance to use when performing repairs on vehicles covered by warranty.

SERVICE INFORMATION

Some of the subject vehicles may experience various engine driveability conditions such as rough/erratic idle, hesitation or surge. When the condition has developed over a period of miles, usually reported after 10,000 miles/16000 kms have been accrued on the vehicle, a probable cause is intrusion of dirt, engine carbon, or oil mist into the area of the mixture control (M/C) solenoid (also known as the duty on feedback solenoid).

A revised M/C solenoid has been introduced in production and also as a service part for affected vehicles. This new part incorporates various changes to counteract the effects of foreign materials on operational effectiveness of the solenoid. Vehicles beginning with VIN serial number J7559769 incorporate the new part.

Vehicles exhibiting the described symptoms should have the M/C solenoid removed and replaced with the new part, P/N 94332796. Parts are currently available from GMSPO.
