A/C Idle Rpm Check

NOTE: Vehicles with A/C systems are equipped with a solenoid kicker. It is not possible to set the A/C idle speed, but the kicker operation should be checked.
  1. Start and run engine until normal operating temperature is reached. Set temperature control lever to coldest position and turn on A/C system.
  2. As the A/C compressor clutch cycles on and off, the kicker plunger should move in and out. If so, proceed to next step. If not okay, check the kicker system for vacuum leaks in the hoses. Check the operation of the kicker vacuum control solenoid. If okay, replace the kicker and repeat the above steps.
  3. Turn off A/C system. Turn off engine and install air cleaner (if removed).
