Cleaning & Inspection
- Clean remove parts (excluding "O" ring, packing, gasket and electric parts) with a carburetor cleaner using care not to damage parts. After cleaning, blow out each passage of carburetor with dry air to remove any foreign material.
- Check for cracks or damage to float and whether there are any abrasions in float pin hole. Check for abrasion and flaws on float pin. Check for damage of abrasion on needle valve seat and strainer.
- Inspect accelerator pump piston for wear of damage. Inspect springs and strainer for damage, Inspect pump injector for damage. Inspect acceleration pump piston bore for wear and scratches.
- Make sure that air vent solenoid valve body and spring are free from damage. Install spring and valve to body. Apply 12 volts to the solenoid valve. Check to see that valve operates smoothly.
- If solenoid valve does not operate smoothly, the air horn assembly must be replaced. Inspect air horn surface for distortion, scratching, and other damage. Replace if damaged.
- Apply vacuum to choke breaker diaphragm unit. The choke breaker diaphragm unit should hold vacuum for a reasonable amount of time. If diaphragm does not hold vacuum, replace it.
- Measure resistance between choke coil wire and housing with an ohmmeter. Resistance should be 1-11 ohms at 78°F (25°C). Check whether or not there is damage to slow cut solenoid valve body and spring spool.
- Install valve assembly to body. Apply 12 volts and check whether or not solenoid valve operates smoothly. Replace solenoid valve if it does not operate smoothly.
- Inspect diaphragm chamber. Push in rod of diaphragm chamber with your fingers, block hole of diaphragm chamber and check that rod does not move.
- Check whether there is damage to mixture by-pass solenoid valve body, spring and spool. Install valve assembly to flange. Apply 12 volts and check whether the solenoid valve operates smoothly. Replace solenoid valve if it does not operate smoothly.
- Inspect air horn, body and flange and replace if damages of cracks of flaws on fitting surfaces are found. Inspect for deformation and abrasion of shaft, link, bushing, ect., and replace if damage is found.
