Repair and Diagnosis: Electrical: Starter: Starter: Overhaul: Disassembly

1. Disconnect lead wire from solenoid. Remove 2 through bolts. On 1.0 kw starter, remove felt seal. Remove 2 screws retaining starter housing and clutch assembly to magnetic switch. On 1.4 kw starter, remove "O" ring. Remove 2 starter housing and pinion gear assembly to magnetic switch screws.
2. On all models, remove spring and steel ball from clutch shaft hole, using a magnetic pick-up tool. Remove end cover. On 1.4 kw, remove "O" ring. Remove brushes from holder. Remove brush holder and armature.
