Vacuum Regulator Valve
- Remove air crossover. Install screened covers in intake manifold openings. On V8 engine, disconnect throttle rod from pump. On V6 engine, disconnect throttle cable and T.V. cable from pump throttle lever.
- Loosen vacuum regulator valve-to-injection pump bolts. Install carburetor Angle Gauge Adapter (BT-7944 or J-26701-15) to the injection pump throttle lever.
- Place Angle Gauge (BT-7704 or J-26701) on adapter. Rotate throttle lever to wide open throttle position. Set angle gauge to 0°. Center bubble in level. See Fig 1 .
- Set angle gauge to 58° on V8 engine, and 49° on V6 engine. Rotate throttle lever so lever bubble is centered. Attach vacuum pump to port "A". Install vacuum gauge to port "B". See Fig 2 .
- Apply 22 in. Hg of vacuum to port "A". Rotate vacuum valve clockwise to obtain 10.6 in. Hg on automatic transmission, and 8.9 in. Hg on manual transmission.
- Tighten bolts and remove vacuum gauge, pump, and angle gauge. Connect throttle and T.V./detent cables (V6) or throttle rod (V8). Remove screened covers. Install air crossover.
