Vacuum Regulator Valve (Auto. Trans. Only)
- The vacuum regulator valve provides vacuum signals to control transmission shift points. Vacuum setting of valve should be checked periodically, using the following procedure. Engine MUST NOT be running during this procedure.
- Attach vacuum regulator valve snugly to fuel injection pump. Switch body must be free to rotate on pump.
- Attach vacuum source of 20 in. Hg. to bottom vacuum nipple. Insert vacuum regulator valve Gauge Block (J-33043-2) between gauge boss on injection pump and wide open stop screw on throttle lever (switch on position).
- Rotate and hold throttle shaft against gauge. Slowly rotate vacuum regulator valve body clockwise (facing valve) until vacuum gauge reads 8 F.6 in. Hg. Hold valve body at this position and tighten mounting screws.
- Check by releasing throttle shaft allowing it to return to idle stop position. Then rotate throttle shaft back against gauge block to determine if vacuum gauge reads within 8 F.6 in. Hg. If vacuum is outside limits, reset valve.
NOTE:
Valve must be set while rotating valve body in clockwise direction only.
