Oil Pump: Notes

  1. Install new pump-to-case gasket on pump and retain with petroleum jelly. Install 2 pump-to-case alignment pins in case, opposite each other.
    NOTE: Before installing pump, ensure intermediate band anchor pin lug is aligned with band anchor pin hole in case.
  2. Install pump assembly and finger start pump-to-case bolts and new washers, except one bolt which will be used to make front unit end play check.
    CAUTION: If turbine shaft cannot be rotated as pump is pulled into place, forward or direct clutch housings are not properly indexed with all clutch plates. This condition must be corrected before pump is pulled fully into place.
  3. Remove alignment pins and install 2 pump attaching bolts and new washers. Tighten pump-to-case bolts evenly and make sure turbine shaft rotates freely.
