Mixture Control Solenoid Plunger Travel
NOTE:
Mixture control solenoid plunger travel should be checked before proceeding with any carburetor adjustments or disassembly.
- Remove air cleaner and gasket. Insert float gauge (J9789 130 or BT 7720) down "D" shaped vent hole. Press down on float gauge and release. Make sure float gauge moves freely and does not bind. With float gauge released, read at eye level and record reading of float gauge mark that lines up with top upper edge of air horn casting.
- Lightly press down on float gauge until plunger is bottomed out. Record reading of float gauge mark that lines up with top upper edge of air horn casting.
- Subtract float gauge "UP" position from float gauge "DOWN" position and record difference of total plunger travel. If total plunger is not between 2/32" and 6/32", proceed to "ADJUSTMENTS" section in this article. If reading is within specification, adjust idle air bleed valve. See appropriate TUNE-UP article.
