Carburetor - ROCHESTER E2ME 2-Bbl: Description

The Rochester Dualjet carburetor model E2ME is a single-stage, 2-barrel downdraft carburetor. Each bore is 1-3/8" in diameter and each bore has a separate and independent idle circuit.

All E2ME models are equipped with an electrically operated mixture control solenoid. The mixture control solenoid, mounted in the fuel bowl, controls air and fuel metered to the idle and main metering systems. Fuel metering is controlled by 2 special stepped metering rods, operating in removable jets, positioned by a plunger in the mixture control solenoid.

All models are equipped with a Throttle Position Sensor (TPS), mounted in the float bowl; an Idle Speed Control (ISC) device; and models without ISC but with A/C, are equipped with an Idle Speed Solenoid (ISS). The TPS signals the Electronic Control Module (ECM) of the Computer Command Control (CCC) system on throttle position. The ISC, mounted on the fuel bowl, controls normal curb idle speed and acts as a dashpot on deceleration and throttle closing. The ISS maintains a specific idle speed during A/C operation.

NOTE: No attempt should be made to set curb idle speed with the Idle Speed Solenoid or the Idle Speed Control device.

All carburetors are equipped with tamper-resistant features: Factory-adjusted rich mixture stop screws, factory-adjusted lean mixture screws, riveted choke coil housings, idle air bleed valves, TPS and idle mixture needles.

CAUTION: NO ATTEMPT should be made to adjust screws except when required by a Computer Command Control System performance check, a major overhaul, or replacement of the air horn, float bowl or throttle body.

All carburetors are equipped with a front vacuum break with a leaf-type bucking spring. Some models may use both a front and rear vacuum break to control choke valve openings during initial engine starting and cold driveaway.
