Steering Column: Removal

  1. Disconnect battery ground. Remove horn cover and spring. Remove steering column shrouding and hazard warning light switch. Remove combination switch. Remove steering wheel. See LUV under  STEERING WHEEL & COLUMN SWITCHES   in this Section. 
    NOTE: Avoid impact to steering wheel at all times.
  2. Raise front of vehicle and support. Remove pinch bolt holding shaft to lower coupling flange. Remove 3 mast jacket to firewall bolts. Remove 2 steering column to instrument panel bolts.
  3. Separate rubber coupling from steering shaft. Carefully slide steering shaft toward inside of passenger compartment and remove from vehicle.
