Circuit/System Testing

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2023 Cadillac XT5. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Test 1

  1. Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector: X2 @ K124 Active Safety Control Module
  3. Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points: Serial Data circuit terminal 7 @ K124 Active Safety Control Module & Serial Data circuit terminal 1 @ X84 Data Link Connector
    • If 2 ohms or greater

Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.

    • Go to next step: If less than 2 ohms
  4. Replace the component: K124 Active Safety Control Module

Test 2

  1. Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector: X3 @ K9 Body Control Module
  3. Test for less than 1 V between the test points:
    • Ignition circuit terminal 4 & Ground
    • Signal circuit terminal 8 & Ground
    • If 1 V or greater

Repair the short to voltage on the circuit.

    • Go to next step: If less than 1 V
  4. Ignition/Vehicle & All vehicle systems - Off
  5. Test for infinite resistance between the test points:
    • Ignition circuit terminal 4 & Ground
    • Signal circuit terminal 8 & Ground
    • If less than infinite resistance

Repair the short to ground on the circuit.

    • Go to next step: If infinite resistance
  6. Operate the component: Adaptive Cruise Control Gap Switch - Press and hold the switch

Test for 3.5 k to 3.8 kohms between the test points: Ignition circuit terminal 4 & Signal circuit terminal 8

    • If not between 3.5 k and 3.8 kohms
    1. Disconnect the electrical connector: S70C Steering Wheel Controls Switch - Left Upper
    2. Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points: Ignition circuit terminal 4 @ K9 Body Control Module & Ignition circuit terminal 6 @ S70C Steering Wheel Controls Switch - Left Upper
      • If 2 ohms or greater - Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
      • Go to next step: If less than 2 ohms
    3. Disconnect the electrical connector: S70A Steering Wheel Controls Switch - Left Lower
    4. Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points: Ignition circuit terminal 5 @ S70C Steering Wheel Controls Switch - Left Upper & Ignition circuit terminal 3 @ S70A Steering Wheel Controls Switch - Left Lower
      • If 2 ohms or greater - Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
      • Go to next step: If less than 2 ohms
    5. Connect the electrical connector: S70C Steering Wheel Controls Switch - Left Upper
    6. Test for 2.5 k to 2.7 kohms between the test points: Ignition circuit terminal 4 @ K9 Body Control Module & Ignition circuit terminal 3 @
      • If not between 2.5 k and 2.7 kohms - Replace the component: S70C Steering Wheel Controls Switch - Left Upper
      • Go to next step: If between 2.5 k and 2.7 kohms
    7. Test for less than 2 ohms between the test points: Signal circuit terminal 8 @ K9 Body Control Module & Signal circuit terminal 2 @ S70A Steering Wheel Controls Switch - Left Lower
      • If 2 ohms or greater - Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
      • Go to next step: If less than 2 ohms
    8. Replace the component: S70A Steering Wheel Controls Switch - Left Lower
    • Go to next step: If between 3.5 k and 3.8 kohms
  7. Test for 8.6 k to 8.9 kohms between the test points: Ignition circuit terminal 4 & Signal circuit terminal 8
    • If not between 8.6 k and 8.9 kohms

Replace the component: S70A Steering Wheel Controls Switch - Left Lower

    • Go to next step: If between 8.6 k and 8.9 kohms
  8. Replace the component: K9 Body Control Module
