Installation Procedure

    NOTE:
    • The camshaft MUST be at the base circle position before the fuel pump is installed.
    • At the base circle position, the EN-52443  High Pressure Fuel Pump Alignment Tool will sit flush with the cylinder head.

    Install the EN-52443  High Pressure Fuel Pump Alignment Tool and turn the crankshaft until the camshaft lobe is at the base circle position.

  2. Remove the EN-52443  High Pressure Fuel Pump Alignment Tool.
  3. Lubricate the valve lifter follower (4) with clean engine oil.
  4. Valve Lifter Follower (4) - Install
  5. Fuel Pump Seal (3) - Install NEW
  6. Fuel Pump (2) - Install
  7. CAUTION:

    Alternately hand-tighten the fuel pump bolts one turn at a time until the pump is fully seated. Trying to draw down the pump without even side-to-side tightening may result in pump plunger damage.

  8. Fuel Pump Stud (1) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
  9. Electrical Connector @ Fuel Pump - Connect

    WARNING:

    The noise cancelling foam component MUST be replaced if it has been exposed to engine fluids. Failure to replace the noise canceling foam component that has been exposed to engine fluids may result in an engine fire resulting in catastrophic engine damage, and possible injury or death.

    Fuel Pump Insulator (1) - Install

    Fuel Injection Pump Bracket (3) - Install

  12. Fuel Pump Shield Bolt (2) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
  13. Fuel Pump Shield Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Fuel Feed Intermediate Pipe (2) - Install NEW

  15. Fuel Injection Fuel Feed Pipe Bracket Bolt (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

    Nut @ Fuel Feed Intermediate Pipe (1) - Install and hand tighten [2x]

  17. Nut @ Fuel Feed Intermediate Pipe (1) - Tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Upper Intake Manifold Bracket (2) - Install

  19. Upper Intake Manifold Cover Nut (1) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Radiator Surge Tank Inlet Hose Clip (2) @ Upper Intake Manifold Bracket (3) - Install

  21. Upper Intake Manifold Cover Nut (1) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Electrical Connector (1) - Connect as necessary

    Fuel Feed Pipe (1) @ Fuel Pump - Connect - Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service

    Intake Manifold Cover Insulator (2) - Install

  25. Intake Manifold Cover Bolt (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

    Intake Manifold Cover (1) @ Upper Intake Manifold Bracket (2) - Install

    Push down on the front of the intake manifold cover (2).

  28. Intake Manifold Cover Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
  29. Install the oil fill cap.
  30. Connect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
  31. Inspect for leaks using the following procedure:
    1. Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF for 2 seconds.
    2. Turn OFF the ignition for 10 seconds.
    3. Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF.
    4. Inspect for fuel leaks.
