Installation Procedure

    Install the EN-50791-100  Fuel Injector Installation Adapter (2) to the EN-50791  Injector to Rail Installer (1).

  2. Install EN-50791  Injector to Rail Installer (1) to the fuel injector (3).

    Using EN-50791  Injector to Rail Installer (1), compress the fuel injector (4) into the fuel rail.

    4. NOTE:

    Ensure the fuel injector is fully seated in the fuel rail.

  4. Fuel Injector Retainer (3) - Install NEW
  5. Ensure the NEW fuel injector retainer (3) is fully seated in the fuel rail.
  6. Remove the EN-50791  Injector to Rail Installer (1) along with the EN-50791-100  Fuel Injector Installation Adapter (2).

    Direct Fuel Injector Hold Down Clamp (1) - Install NEW

    NOTE:

    DO NOT use any type of lubricant when installing the NEW combustion seals on the fuel injector tip.

    Install EN-51955-1  long protector (1) onto the fuel injector tip, covering the first recessed area closest to the tip. Place a NEW fuel injector nozzle housing seal (2) on EN-51955-1  long protector (1).

  9. Using EN-51955-4  pusher (3), install the fuel injector nozzle housing seal (2) into the recessed area (4) of the fuel injector, then remove the EN-51955-1  long protector.
  10. Compress the fuel injector nozzle housing seal (2) using EN-51955-3  pre-sizer (5).
  11. Using EN-51955-5  sizer (6), resize the fuel injector nozzle housing seal.
  12. Install EN-51955-2  short protector (7) onto the fuel injector tip. Place a second NEW fuel injector nozzle housing seal (8) on EN-51955-2  short protector (7).
  13. Using EN-51955-4  pusher (3), install the fuel injector nozzle housing seal (8) into the remaining recessed area (9) of the fuel injector, then remove EN-51955-2  short protector.
  14. Compress the fuel injector nozzle housing seal (8) using EN-51955-3  pre-sizer (5).
  15. Using EN-51955-5  sizer (6), resize the fuel injector nozzle housing seal.
  16. Connect the direct fuel injector electrical connector.

    Clean the fuel injector bores.

    18. NOTE:

    Hand place the fuel injection fuel rail into position on the cylinder head.

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

    NOTE:

    Install the four fuel injection fuel rail bolts hand tight only, DO NOT apply any torque.

    Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Bolt (1, 2, 3) - Install [4x]

  20. Tighten the two outer fuel injection fuel rail bolts (1, 3) alternating in steps of 1/2 turn, until the direct fuel injection fuel rail (4) is fully seated.
  21. Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Bolt (1, 2, 3) - Tighten [4x] - Fastener Specifications
  22. Electrical Connector (5, 6) - Connect [2x]

    WARNING:

    The noise cancelling foam component MUST be replaced if it has been exposed to engine fluids. Failure to replace the noise canceling foam component that has been exposed to engine fluids may result in an engine fire resulting in catastrophic engine damage, and possible injury or death.

    Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Insulator (1) - Install

    Fuel Feed Intermediate Pipe (2) - Install NEW

    26. CAUTION:

    Refer to Component Fastener Tightening Caution .

  26. Nut @ Fuel Feed Intermediate Pipe (2) - Tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
  27. Fuel Injection Fuel Feed Pipe Bolt (1) - Install - Fastener Specifications
  28. Reposition wiring harness as necessary.

    Water Outlet Seal (2) - Install NEW

  30. Engine Coolant Flow Control Valve (1) - Install

    Engine Coolant Flow Control Valve Bolt (1) - Install [4x] - Fastener Specifications

    Electrical Connector (2) @ Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor - Connect

  33. Electrical Connector (1) @ Engine Coolant Flow Control Valve - Connect [2x]

    Engine Oil Cooler Coolant Inlet Hose (4) @ Engine Coolant Flow Control Valve - Install

  35. Engine Coolant Air Bleed Hose (3) @ Engine Coolant Flow Control Valve - Install
  36. Engine Coolant Air Bleed Hose (2) @ Engine Coolant Flow Control Valve - Install
  37. Hose Clamp (1) - Engage [3x] - Hose Clamp Replacement Guidelines - Spring Type

    Radiator Inlet Hose (3) @ Engine Coolant Flow Control Valve - Install

  39. Thermostat Bypass Hose (2) @ Engine Coolant Flow Control Valve - Install
  40. Hose Clamp (1) - Engage [2x] - Hose Clamp Replacement Guidelines - Spring Type

    Intake Manifold Seal (2) - Install NEW

    NOTE:

    Check that the 2 pins (4) of the intake manifold are seated correctly in the cylinder head.

    Intake Manifold (3) - Install

  43. Intake Manifold Bolt - Install, but do NOT tighten [7x]
  44. Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Tube (2) @ Throttle Body - Install
  45. Electrical Connector @ Throttle Body (1) - Connect

    Connect the electrical connector. (1)

    Intake Manifold Bolt (1) - Tighten in sequence [7x] - Fastener Specifications

    Radiator Surge Tank Inlet Pipe Bracket (2) - Reposition [2x]

  49. Radiator Surge Tank Outlet Hose Clip Bracket Nut (1) - Tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Reposition the wiring harness (3) and connect as necessary.

  51. Retainer (1) @ Intake Manifold (2) - Install [7x]

    Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Pump (2) - Install

  53. Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Pump Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [3x] - Fastener Specifications
  54. Connect the electrical connector.

    Evaporative Emission Pipe (1) - Install

  56. Connect the quick connect. Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service

    Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Tube (2) - Install

  58. Connect the evaporative emission canister purge tube quick connects (1). Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service 
  59. Connect the evaporative emission canister purge tube (2) to the retainer (3).

    Upper Intake Manifold Bracket (2) - Install

  61. Upper Intake Manifold Cover Nut (1) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Upper Intake Manifold Cover Bracket Bolt (1) @ Upper Intake Manifold Bracket (2) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Wiring Harness (4) - Reposition

  64. Retainer (2) @ Upper Intake Manifold Bracket (3) - Install [3x]
  65. Electrical Connector (1) - Connect [3x]

    Oil Level Indicator Tube Seal (2) - Install NEW

  67. Oil Level Indicator Tube (1) - Install

    Connect the electrical connector. (1)

    Intake Manifold Cover (1) @ Upper Intake Manifold Bracket (2) - Install

    NOTE:

    Ensure the engine sight shield retainers fully engage the intake manifold cover studs.

    Push down on the front of the intake manifold cover (1).

  74. Install the oil fill cap.
  75. Connect the battery. - Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
  76. Fill the cooling system. Cooling System Draining and Filling (LSY GE 47716) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (LSY Static Fill) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (LSY with V03 Static Fill) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (LSY with V03 GE 47716)
  77. Start the engine and check for leaks.
  78. Perform the throttle body idle air flow compensation reset. Throttle Body Idle Air Flow Compensation Reset
