Calibration Aids
- Successful Night Vision Camera Alignment is dependent on the camera being calibrated to three positional characteristics of the target: Pitch, Roll, and Yaw.
- Using the scan tool, observe the following parameters: Roll Angle, Pitch Angle, and Yaw Angle. When optimally calibrated, all three parameters will be closer to zero.
- A target that is counter-clockwise (driver side of target down) will cause the Roll Angle parameter to be more positive, while clockwise (passenger side of target down) will cause the parameter to be more negative.
- A target that is higher than optimal (target too high) will cause the Pitch angle parameter to be more positive, while lower (target too low) will cause the parameter to be more negative.
- A target that is right of optimal (target too far right) will cause the Yaw Angle parameter to be more positive, while a target positioned too far left will cause the parameter to be more negative.
- Proper placement and orientation of the target during the Night Vision Calibration procedure will produce a more exact calibration of the camera to the target, which is reflected by the scan tool Roll Angle, Pitch Angle, and Yaw Angle parameters displaying values that are closer to zero. This also allows the Night Vision system to compensate more efficiently for changing road, environment, and vehicle characteristics.
