Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the front wheel drive intermediate shaft. Front Wheel Drive Intermediate Shaft Replacement
  2. Remove the power transfer unit heat shield. Power Transfer Unit Heat Shield Replacement 
  3. Disconnect all electrical connectors and wiring harness retainers from the power transfer unit.
  4. Remove the power transfer unit bracket. Power Transfer Unit Bracket Replacement 
  5. Disconnect the power transfer unit vent hose (2) from the power transfer unit case (3).

  6. Remove the propeller shaft. Propeller Shaft Replacement
  7. Support the power transfer unit with a suitable jack, and secure with suitable straps.
  8. Remove the power transfer unit bolt (1).

  9. Remove the 3 power transfer unit bolts (1).

  10. Remove the power transfer unit (1).
    Remove and DISCARD the power transfer unit face seal (1).
