Removal Procedure

Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (without KL9) , or Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (with KL9) .
Remove the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement .
If equipped, disconnect the heater block cord by releasing the two tabs (1), from the block heater, using a suitable pry tool.

Remove the starter solenoid fastener (2) and remove the battery positive cable (3), from the starter solenoid (4).

Disconnect the engine harness connector (1), from the starter solenoid (4).
Remove the top mounting fastener (1) from the starter (2).

Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (CTS) .
Remove the lower mounting fastener (2) from the starter (1).

Remove the starter.
