Installation Procedure
- Position the intermediate steering shaft (2) on the vehicle.
- Intermediate Steering Shaft (2) @Steering Gear - Install
- Mid Intermediate Steering Shaft (1) @Intermediate Steering Shaft - Install
- UNLOCK and turn the steering wheel so the mid intermediate steering shaft bolt (1) and intermediate steering shaft lower bolt (2) are accessible from the engine compartment.
- Intermediate Steering Shaft Lower Bolt (2) - Install and tighten 50 N.m (37 lb ft)
- Thread the cleaned component into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive.
- Apply thread locking adhesive to the external threads of the component. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
- Mid Intermediate Steering Shaft Bolt (1) - Install and tighten 36 N.m (27 lb ft)
- Thread the cleaned component into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive.
- Apply thread locking adhesive to the external threads of the component. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
NOTE:
Install the intermediate steering shaft to the steering gear by pushing the shaft downward and forward along the axis of the steering gear shaft.
NOTE:
Install the mid intermediate steering shaft to the intermediate steering shaft by pushing the shaft downward and forward along the axis of the intermediate steering shaft.
