Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (without KL9) , or Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (with KL9) .
- Remove the left side rear compartment trim panel. Refer to Rear Compartment Side Trim Replacement - Left Side .
- Remove the rear side door sill garnish moldings left and right. Refer to Rear Side Door Sill Garnish Molding Replacement .
- Open the battery fuse block cover (3).
- Remove the battery positive cable fastener (2) from the battery fuse block and remove the battery positive cable terminal (1).
- Detach the battery positive cable retainers (1) from the studs and body harness.
- Feed the battery positive cable (2) into the rear passenger compartment area.
- Detach the battery positive cable retainers (1) from the side of the left rear seat.
- Peel back the rear floor panel carpet from underneath the rear seat. Refer to Rear Floor Panel Carpet Replacement .
- Detach the battery positive cable retainers (1).
- Remove the right side passenger floor panel carpet. Refer to Front Floor Panel Carpet Replacement - Right Side .
- Remove the right side instrument panel lower trim panel insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Insulator Replacement - Right Side .
- Detach the battery positive cable retainers (1).
- Remove the following from the pre-fuse block:
- Battery Jumper Post Cover (1).
- Pre-Fuse Block Cover (2).
- Battery Positive Barrel Retainer (3).
- Battery Positive Cable (4).
- Detach the battery positive cable retainer (2) from the radiator surge tank (1) and reposition the radiator surge tank with the hoses attached. Refer to Radiator Surge Tank Replacement (LF3)

- Remove the front plenum panel. Refer to Plenum Front Panel Replacement .
- Reposition the brake pressure modulator valve without disconnecting the brake pipes. Refer to Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Replacement .
- Detach the battery positive cable retainers (3) from the body harness and wheel house.
- Remove the pass through grommet (1) and detach the battery positive cable retainers (3) from the studs.
- Pull the battery positive cable (2) through the pass through opening.
- Remove the battery positive cable from inside the vehicle.
