Installation Procedure

  1. Position the intermediate steering shaft (1) in the vehicle.

  2. Install Intermediate Steering Shaft (2) @ Steering Gear
    3. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  3. Install and tighten Intermediate Steering Shaft Lower Bolt (1) to 42 N.m (31 lb ft)
    1. Clean the threads of the bolt with denatured alcohol or equivalent and allow to dry.
    2. Apply thread locking adhesive to the bolt. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers

  4. Install Intermediate Steering Shaft (2) @ Steering Column
  5. Install and tighten Intermediate Steering Shaft Upper Bolt (1) to 42 N.m (31 lb ft)
    1. Clean the threads of the bolt with denatured alcohol or equivalent and allow to dry.
    2. Apply thread locking adhesive to the bolt. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers 
  6. Install Instrument Panel Insulator - Left Side. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Replacement - Left Side
  7. Center the steering angle sensor. Refer to Steering Wheel Angle Sensor Centering
