Installation Procedure

  1. Install the exhaust front pipe (2) into position.

  2. Install the exhaust front pipe right catalytic converter (5) to the right exhaust manifold (4) with a NEW seal (3.).
    3. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  3. Install the exhaust manifold studs and tighten to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
  4. Install the right catalytic converter fasteners (1) and tighten to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

  5. Install the exhaust front pipe left catalytic converter (5) to the left exhaust manifold (4) with a NEW seal (3).
  6. Install the exhaust manifold studs (2) and tighten to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
  7. Install the left catalytic converter fasteners (1) and tighten to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

  8. Install the exhaust front pipe (2) into the exhaust muffler and tighten the exhaust clamp (1) to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).
  9. Install the transmission support cross member. Refer to Transmission Support Crossmember Replacement (2WD)Transmission Support Crossmember Replacement (4WD) .
  10. Connect the heated oxygen sensor bank 1 sensor 1. Refer to Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement - Bank 1 Sensor 1 .
  11. Connect the heated oxygen sensor bank 1 sensor 2. Refer to Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement - Bank 1 Sensor 2 .
  12. Connect the heated oxygen sensor bank 2 sensor 1. Refer to Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement - Bank 2 Sensor 1 .
  13. Connect the heated oxygen sensor bank 2 sensor 2. Refer to Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement - Bank 2 Sensor 2 .

  14. If equipped with 4WD, install the front axle propeller shaft (2) and tighten the U-joint yoke retainer bolts (1) to 25 N.m (18 lb ft). Refer to Front Axle Propeller Shaft Replacement (NQH)Front Axle Propeller Shaft Replacement (Heavy Duty) .
  15. Start the engine and check for exhaust leaks.
