Intermediate Steering Shaft Boot Replacement

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Open the hood.
  2. Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Insulator Replacement - Left Side
1 Mid Intermediate Steering Shaft Bolt
CAUTION:

Refer to Fastener Caution .

Procedure

  1. Clean the threads of the bolt with denatured alcohol or equivalent and allow to dry.
  2. Apply thread locking adhesive to the fasteners.

Tighten 
36 N.m (27 lb ft)
2 Intermediate Steering Shaft Boot

Procedure

  1. To remove the intermediate steering shaft inner boot, lift the lip of the boot and use a suitable tool to release the plastic clips holding the boot in place.
  2. Separate the upper intermediate steering shaft from the mid intermediate steering shaft.
  3. Slide the intermediate steering shaft boot down and off of the upper intermediate steering shaft.
  4. When installing the intermediate steering shaft boot, ensure the boot is aligned under the hood by using the arrow on the boot as a guide.
