Installation Procedure

  1. Position the shock absorber (1) in the vehicle.

  2. Install the 3 upper shock absorber nuts (1) and tighten to 43 N.m (32 lb ft).

    CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
  3. Install the rear shock absorber electrical connection, if applicable.
  4. Install the lower rear shock absorber bolt (1).

    CAUTION: This vehicle is equipped with torque-to-yield or single use fasteners. Install a NEW torque-to-yield or single use fastener when installing this component. Failure to replace the torque-to-yield or single use fastener could cause damage to the vehicle or component.

    Tighten 

    • First Pass: 100 N.m (74 lb ft)
    • Final Pass: plus 105 degrees
  5. Remove the hydraulic jack from the lower control arm.
  6. Install the rear wheelhouse panel liner. Refer to Rear Wheelhouse Liner Replacement (Non V-Series) and Rear Wheelhouse Liner Replacement (V-Series) .
  7. Install the rear suspension lower control arm cover. Refer to Rear Suspension Lower Control Arm Cover Replacement .
  8. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (October 4th 2015 and Earlier) and Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (October 5th 2015 and Later) .
  9. Remove the supports and lower the vehicle.
