Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (without KL9) Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (with KL9) .
  2. Remove the left side rear compartment trim panel. Refer to Rear Compartment Side Trim Replacement - Left Side .
  3. Remove the rear side door sill garnish moldings left and right. Refer to Rear Side Door Sill Garnish Molding Replacement .

  5. Open the battery fuse block cover (3).
  6. Remove the battery positive cable fastener (2) from the battery fuse block and remove the battery positive cable terminal (1).

  8. Detach the battery positive cable retainers (1) from the studs and body harness.
  9. Feed the battery positive cable (2) into the rear passenger compartment area.

  11. Detach the battery positive cable retainers (1) from the side of the left rear seat.
  12. Peel back the rear floor panel carpet from underneath the rear seat. Refer to Rear Floor Panel Carpet Replacement .

  14. Detach the battery positive cable retainers (1).
  15. Remove the right side passenger floor panel carpet. Refer to Front Floor Panel Carpet Replacement - Right Side .
  16. Remove the right side instrument panel lower trim panel insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Insulator Replacement - Right Side .

  18. Detach the battery positive cable retainers (1).

  20. Remove the following from the pre-fuse block:
    • Battery Jumper Post Cover (1).
    • Pre-Fuse Block Cover (2).
    • Battery Positive Barrel Retainer (3).
    • Battery Positive Cable (4).

  22. Detach the battery positive cable retainer (2) from the radiator surge tank (1) and reposition the radiator surge tank with the hoses attached. Refer to Radiator Surge Tank Replacement (LF3)Radiator Surge Tank Replacement (LTG)Radiator Surge Tank Replacement (LT4)Radiator Surge Tank Replacement (LGX) .
  23. Remove the front plenum panel. Refer to Plenum Front Panel Replacement .
  24. Reposition the brake pressure modulator valve without disconnecting the brake pipes. Refer to Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Replacement .
  25. Detach the battery positive cable retainers (3) from the body harness and wheel house.

  27. Remove the pass through grommet (1) and detach the battery positive cable retainers (3) from the studs.
  28. Pull the battery positive cable (2) through the pass through opening.
  29. Remove the battery positive cable from inside the vehicle.
