Circuit/System Verification

  1. Ignition ON.
  2. Verify the scan tool Steering Column Direction Switch parameter changes between Inactive, Forward, Rearward, Up and Down when exercising the S71 Steering Column Tilt and Telescope Switch.
    • If the parameter does not change 

      Refer to Circuit/System Testing - Switch Malfunction.

    • If the parameter changes 
  3. Verify the operation of the M68 Steering Column Tilt Motor while commanding the Steering Column Tilt Up and Steering Column Tilt Down Command with a scan tool.
    • If the Steering Column Tilt Up or Steering Column Tilt Down Command does not work 

      Refer to Circuit/System Testing - Tilt Motor Malfunction

    • If the Steering Column Tilt Up and Steering Column Tilt Down Command works 
  4. Verify the M65 Steering Column Telescope Motor while commanding the Steering Column Telescope Forward and Steering Column Telescope Rearward with a scan tool.
    • If the Steering Column Telescope Forward and Steering Column Telescope Rearward does not work 

      Refer to Circuit/System Testing - Telescope Motor Malfunction

    • If the Steering Column Telescope Forward and Steering Column Telescope Rearward works 
  5. Verify that DTC B285A 39 is not set.
    • DTC B285A 39 is set 
      NOTE: DO NOT replace the K40D Seat Memory Control Module - Driver.

      Replace the K99 Steering Column Position Control Module.

    • DTC B285A 39 is not set. 
  6. All OK.
