Charge History Scan Tool Data Parameters

Parameter Expected Value Definition
Operating Conditions:  The Charge History parameters capture the conditions present during the last five charge events. A charge event is recorded whenever the charge coupler is fully mated to the charge receptacle. History 1 is the most recent charge event. The Charge History parameters are cleared only during an HPCM2 replacement and/or programming event.
Charge History (1 thru 5) - 110V AC Input Varies This parameter displays if the 110V charge cord was active during this charge event.
Charge History (1 thru 5) - 240V AC Input Varies This parameter displays if the 240V charge cord was active during this charge event.
Charge History (1 thru 5) - Autostart Inhibit Varies This parameter displays if the charge event was interrupted because of an engine start. An engine start could be commanded via remote start, key crank, cold battery, etc.
Charge History (1 thru 5) - Battery Charger Temperature Too High No This parameter displays if the charge event was interrupted because the Battery Charger internal temperature exceeded a set value.
Charge History (1 thru 5) - Charging Cord Error No This parameter displays if the vehicle battery charger is requesting utility power but AC input voltage is not present. Refer to DTC P1EE6.
Charge History (1 thru 5) - Contactor Open No This parameter displays if the charging related contactor(s) were commanded open, interrupting the charge event.
Charge History (1 thru 5) - Full Charge Varies This parameter displays if the high voltage battery was completely charged during this charge event.
Charge History (1 thru 5) - High Severity Fault No This parameter displays if high voltage battery DTCs such as cell overvoltage had set, inhibiting the charge event.
Charge History (1 thru 5) - Hybrid/EV Battery Pack Protection No This parameter displays if high voltage battery DTCs had set, inhibiting the charge event.
Charge History (1 thru 5) - Hybrid/EV Battery Pack Temperature Too Low No This parameter displays if the charge event was interrupted because the high voltage battery temperature was too low to allow charging.
Charge History (1 thru 5) - Low Severity Fault No This parameter displays if high voltage battery DTCs had set, interrupting the charge event.
Charge History (1 thru 5) - Low Voltage - Battery Voltage Low Before Charge No This parameter displays if the 12V accessory battery voltage was too low prior to the charging event being enabled.
Charge History (1 thru 5) - Low Voltage - Battery Voltage Low During Charge No This parameter displays if the 12V accessory battery voltage was too low during the charge event.
Charge History (1 thru 5) - Maximum Cell Voltage No This parameter displays if the maximum voltage for one of the high voltage battery cells was exceeded, interrupting the charge event.
Charge History (1 thru 5) - Maximum Charge Time Exceeded No This parameter displays if the maximum charge time was exceeded during this charge event. Maximum charge time varies by vehicle model with 40 hours being the shortest maximum allowed charge time.
Charge History (1 thru 5) - Medium Severity Fault No This parameter displays if high voltage battery DTCs had set, interrupting the charge event.
Charge History (1 thru 5) - Multiple Plug-In Events Within 30 Seconds No This parameter displays if that several charge cord connections/disconnections were observed at the charger receptacle in a 30 second time frame.
Charge History (1 thru 5) - Multiple Plug-In Events Within 5 Minutes No This parameter displays if that several charge cord connections/disconnections were observed at the charger receptacle in a 5 minute time frame.
Charge History (1 thru 5) - Time of Day Inhibit Varies This parameter displays if programmable charging (time of day/rate based) had delayed charging at some point during this event.
Charge History (1 thru 5) - Unplugged at Vehicle Varies This parameter displays if the charge event was interrupted because the charge cord was disconnected at the vehicle charge receptacle.
Charge History (1 thru 5) - Unplugged at Wall Varies This parameter displays if the charge event was interrupted when AC voltage was lost to the charge cord. Most likely this occurred by either the charge cord plug being removed from the household receptacle or a household utility circuit breaker tripping open.
Charge History (1 thru 5) - Utility Company Inhibit Varies This parameter displays if smart charging had delayed charging at some point during this charge event due to a utility company commanded transmitted via OnStar®.
Charge History (1 thru 5) - Vehicle Conditions Not Correct Yes This parameter displays if the required vehicle conditions to allow charging such as gear selector in Park, valid charger pilot signal have been met.

12V Battery Maintenance Mode - Inactive 12V Battery Maintenance Mode monitors and prevents deep discharge of the 12V battery during extended periods of time when the vehicle is OFF.
This parameter displays if the 12V battery maintenance mode is charging the 12V battery.
14V Power Module Power Available From Hybrid/EV Battery Pack - Varies This parameter displays the amount of electrical power in kW the Hybrid/EV battery pack can supply to the 14V Power Module.
A/C Compressor Command - Varies This parameter displays if the Electric A/C compressor motor is commanded ON, OFF or Aborted.
A/C Compressor Power Consumption - Varies This parameter displays the electric power in kW consumed by the A/C compressor in order for it to provide Hybrid/EV battery pack and/or passenger compartment cooling. This parameter is active only when the cabin controls are set to condition the vehicle.
A/C Compressor Power Limit - No This parameter displays if the electric power available to the Electric A/C compressor motor is at its limit.
A/C Compressor Speed - Varies This parameter displays the actual speed of the electric A/C compressor motor shaft. This parameter is active only when the cabin controls are set to condition the vehicle.
A/C Compressor Speed Command - Varies This parameter displays the commanded speed of the electric A/C compressor motor shaft. This parameter is active only when the cabin controls are set to condition the vehicle.
A/C High Side Pressure Sensor Compressor OFF Equal to low side This parameter displays the pressure of the A/C system high side pressure sensor.

A/C Low Side Pressure Sensor Compressor OFF Equal to high side This parameter displays the pressure of the A/C system low side pressure sensor.

Actively Tested Isolation Resistance of Complete Vehicle - Varies This parameter displays the kOhm results of the isolation resistance test performed during the scan tool high voltage disable procedure.
Air Bag Deployed - No This parameter displays if the contactors are commanded open because an air bag has deployed.
Ambient Air Temperature - Varies This parameter displays the temperature of the air surrounding the vehicle.
Average Hybrid/EV Battery Pack Temperature - Varies This parameter displays the average temperature for all of the Hybrid/EV battery pack module sensors.
Battery Charger AC Input Status Duty Cycle Charging 10-90% This parameter displays the duty cycle for the battery charger AC input voltage. The duty cycle is 10% when voltage is less than 60 V RMS. The duty cycle is 90% when voltage is greater than 280 V RMS.
Battery Charger Control Circuit Status Charging Passed /Failed This parameter displays the diagnostic status of the battery charger command circuit.
Battery Charger DC Output Status Duty Cycle Charging 10-90% This parameter displays the duty cycle for the battery charger DC output voltage. The duty cycle is 10% when voltage is 0 V. The duty cycle is 90% when voltage is greater than 500 V.
Battery Charger Enable Circuit Status Charging Passed /Failed This parameter displays the diagnostic status of the battery charger enable circuit.
Battery Charger High Output Charging Varies This parameter displays the current in amps supplied by the Battery Charger Control Module to the high voltage battery.
Battery Charger High Output Charging Varies This parameter displays the voltage supplied by the Battery Charger Control Module to the high voltage battery.
Battery Charger High Voltage Energy Output During Last Charge Charging Varies This parameter displays the energy (kWh) the battery charger has delivered into the high voltage Hybrid/EV battery pack during the last charge event.

Battery Charging System Efficiency (Active Test) - 62-100% This parameter displays the battery charging system efficiency determined by the active (intrusive) test. Efficiency is calculated by dividing battery charger output power by input power.
Battery Charging System Efficiency (Passive Test) - 62-100% This parameter displays the battery charging system efficiency determined by the passive (non-intrusive) test. Efficiency is calculated by dividing battery charger output power by input power.
Battery Charging System Efficiency Test Result (Active Test) - Passed /Failed This parameter displays the pass/fail status of the battery charging system efficiency active test.
Battery Charging System Efficiency Test Status (Active Test) - Running /Not Running This parameter displays the run status of the battery charging system efficiency active test.
Battery Charging System Efficiency Test Status (Passive Test) - Running /Not Running This parameter displays the run status of the battery charging system efficiency passive test.
Battery Charging System Indicator Status Charging Inactive / Waiting / Charging / Complete / Error This parameter displays the status of the charging system indicator (LEDs/Bulbs/Icons) visible to the operator of the vehicle.
Battery Charging System Operating Conditions - OK This parameter displays if the battery charging system operating conditions are allowing charging.
Battery Charging System Positive Contactor Command Propulsion Active or Charge Mode Closed This parameter displays the Hybrid Powertrain Control Module 2 Commanded state of the contactor (relay) on (+) side of the battery charging/14V power module system.

Discharge Fault Lockout - No This parameter displays if the contactors are commanded open due to a fault being detected in the high voltage discharge circuit.
Discharging - No This parameter displays if the system is inhibiting contactor closure because the high voltage system is currently in the process of discharging the capacitors on the high voltage bus. Discharging usually occurs immediately following opening of the high voltage contactors.
Distance Since DTC Cleared - Varies This parameter displays the distance in miles or kilometers since OBD diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) have been cleared using the service tool.
Distance with MIL On - Varies This parameter displays the accumulated distance in miles or kilometers driven with the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) on.

Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor - Varies This parameter displays the pressure/vacuum inside the fuel tank. A negative value indicates a vacuum, while a positive value indicates a pressure.
High Voltage Interlock Circuit Fault - No This parameter displays if the contactors are commanded open because the high voltage interlock circuit is detected open or faulted.
High Voltage Inverter Voltage - Varies This parameter displays the high voltage at the drive motor power inverter as measured by the hybrid powertrain control module 1.
High Voltage System Being Serviced Lockout - Varies This parameter displays if the contactors are commanded open due to successful completion of the scan tool high voltage disable procedure.
High Voltage System Interlock Circuit HV Enabled Energized The high voltage interlock circuit routes through several components and connectors to determine if access to high voltage components is being attempted. This parameter displays if the high voltage interlock circuit is currently monitoring for high voltage system integrity.

High Voltage System Interlock Circuit Status HV Enabled Pass The high voltage interlock circuit routes through several components and connectors to determine if access to high voltage components is being attempted. This parameter displays the results of the control modules diagnostic test of the high voltage interlock circuit.

High Voltage System Isolation Test Status HV Enabled Not Running Vehicles equipped with high voltage storage and propulsion capability are designed with both the positive and negative high voltage circuits isolated from the vehicle chassis. This parameter displays the status of the Hybrid/EV battery pack isolation diagnostic test. This test may run at accessory wake up or immediately following key-off. The status will clear whenever DTCs are cleared.

Hybrid/EV Battery Pack Charging Limit - Varies This parameter displays the maximum charge power limit in watts of the Hybrid/EV battery pack based on current conditions such as temperature and state of charge.
Hybrid/EV Battery Pack Coolant Level Switch - Varies This parameter displays the voltage signal from the coolant level switch contained in the Hybrid/EV battery pack coolant surge tank.
Hybrid/EV Battery Pack Coolant Pump Command - Varies This parameter displays the commanded percentage coolant flow for the Hybrid/EV battery pack coolant pump.
Hybrid/EV Battery Pack Coolant Pump Feedback - 45-55% This parameter displays the internal diagnostic status of the Hybrid/EV battery pack coolant pump. A duty cycle of 45 to 55% indicates no internal pump faults detected.
Hybrid/EV Battery Pack Coolant Pump Speed - Varies This parameter displays the actual speed of the Hybrid/EV battery pack coolant pump motor shaft.
Hybrid/EV Battery Pack Coolant Temperature Sensor 1 - Varies A sensor monitors the temperature of coolant circulating through the Hybrid/EV battery pack. This parameter displays Sensor 1 which monitors temperature of the coolant entering the battery pack.

Hybrid/EV Battery Pack Precharge Contactor Command HV Enable Initiated Closed This parameter displays the Hybrid Powertrain Control Module 2 Commanded state of the operation of the Hybrid/EV Battery pack precharge contactor relay. Precharge occurs in the milliseconds prior to closing the main (-) bus contactor. By routing the high voltage through a resistor, precharge prevents voltage spikes from occurring whenever high voltage is enabled.

Hybrid/EV Battery Positive Contactor Command HV Enabled Closed This parameter displays the Hybrid Powertrain Control Module 2 Commanded state of the contactor (relay) on the (+) side of the Hybrid/EV Battery pack.

Hybrid/EV Battery System Precharge Current Too High - No Precharge occurs in the milliseconds prior to closing the main (-) bus contactor. By routing the high voltage through a resistor, precharge prevents voltage spikes from occurring whenever high voltage is enabled. This parameter displays if the contactors are commanded open because of excessive Precharge current.
Hybrid/EV Battery System Precharge Time Too Short - No Precharge occurs in the milliseconds prior to closing the main (-) bus contactor. By routing high voltage through a resistor, precharge prevents voltage spikes from occurring whenever high voltage is enabled. The time required to precharge is based upon the system voltage and capacitance. This parameter displays if the contactors are commanded open because the time required to precharge was too fast.

Hybrid/EV Battery Temperature Sensor with Minimum Value - Varies The Hybrid/EV battery pack contains many individual battery cells or modules. This parameter displays the index-number of the battery module that is reporting the minimum temperature value.
Hybrid/EV Battery Voltage Sensor with Maximum Value - Varies The Hybrid/EV battery pack contains many individual battery cells or modules. This parameter displays the index-number of the battery module voltage sensor that is reporting the highest voltage.
Hybrid/EV Battery Voltage Sensor with Minimum Value - Varies The Hybrid/EV battery pack contains many individual battery cells or modules. This parameter displays the index-number of the battery module voltage sensor that is reporting the lowest voltage.
Hybrid/EV Battery Voltage Sensors Average - Varies The Hybrid/EV battery pack contains many individual hybrid battery cells or modules. This parameter displays the average voltage measured at all of the cells/modules.
Hybrid/EV Electronics Coolant Pump Command - Varies This parameter displays the percent commanded coolant flow for the Hybrid/EV electronics coolant pump.
Hybrid/EV Electronics Coolant Pump Feedback - 45-55% This parameter displays the internal diagnostic status for the Hybrid/EV electronics coolant pump. A duty cycle of 45 to 55% indicates no internal pump faults detected.

Ignition 1 Signal - Varies This parameter displays the voltage monitored at the control module terminal connected to the Ignition 1 circuit.
Isolation Test Resistance - Varies Vehicles equipped with high voltage storage and propulsion capability are designed with both the positive and negative high voltage circuits isolated from the vehicle chassis. This parameter displays the amount of isolation observed when the Hybrid/EV battery pack last performed its isolation diagnostic test. This test may run at accessory wake up or immediately following key-off. The value will be set to zero whenever DTCs are cleared.
Maximum Hybrid/EV Battery Module Temperature - Varies The Hybrid/EV battery pack contains many individual battery cells or modules. This parameter displays the temperature of the battery module reporting the highest temperature.
Maximum Hybrid/EV Battery Module Voltage - Varies The Hybrid/EV battery pack contains many individual hybrid battery cells or modules. This parameter displays the maximum voltage measured at any of the cells/modules.
Minimum Hybrid/EV Battery Module Temperature - Varies The Hybrid/EV battery pack contains many individual battery cells or modules. This parameter displays the temperature of the battery module reporting the lowest temperature.
Minimum Hybrid/EV Battery Module Voltage - Varies The Hybrid/EV battery pack contains many individual hybrid battery cells or modules. This parameter displays the minimum voltage measured at any of the cells/modules.
Overtemperature - No This parameter displays if the system is commanding contactors open to protect them from overheating. The contactors will overheat if cycled too many times within a short amount of time.
Over/Under Voltage Lockout - Inactive This parameter displays if the contactors are commanded open due to an over or under voltage condition detected in the high voltage circuit.
Passenger Compartment Heater Coolant Control Solenoid Valve Command - Varies This parameter displays the commanded position for the solenoid valve that controls the coolant flow through the passenger compartment cooling system. This position determines if coolant is allowed to flow from the engine cooling system.
Passenger Compartment Heater Coolant Control Solenoid Valve Feedback - Varies This parameter displays the actual position for the solenoid valve that controls the coolant flow through the passenger compartment cooling system. This position determines if coolant is allowed to flow from the engine cooling system.
Passenger Compartment Heater Coolant Control Solenoid Valve Learn Status - Learned This parameter displays the status of the learn test for the solenoid valve that controls the coolant flow through the passenger compartment heater core.
Passenger Compartment Heater Power Limited - No This parameter displays if the electric power available to the passenger compartment heater power is at its limit.

Power Delivered to Electric Passenger Compartment Heater from Hybrid/EV Battery Pack - Varies This parameter displays the electric power in kW commanded by the hybrid powertrain control module 2 to the passenger compartment heater in order for it to provide heat. This parameter is active only when the cabin controls are set to condition the vehicle.
Power Requested by Electric A/C Compressor from Hybrid/EV Battery Pack - Varies This parameter displays the electric power in kW estimated by hybrid powertrain control module 2 necessary to provide Hybrid/EV battery pack and/or passenger compartment cooling. This parameter is active only when the cabin controls are set to condition the vehicle.
Power Requested by Electric Passenger Compartment Heater from Hybrid/EV Battery Pack - Varies This parameter displays the electric power in kW estimated by hybrid powertrain control module 2 necessary to provide passenger compartment heating. This parameter is active only when the cabin controls are set to condition the vehicle.
Power Mode - Run This parameter displays the status of the ignition switch.
Proximity Detection Circuit - Varies The proximity detection circuit detects the presence of the drive motor battery charge cord. This parameter displays the voltage monitored on the detection circuit.
Refuel Request - Varies This parameter displays if the module has initiated a refuel request.
Refuel Request Switch - Varies This parameter displays the state of the fuel door open request switch.
Refuel System Status - Varies This parameter displays the current state of the refuel system.
Refuel System Vent Requested - Varies This parameter displays if the module has requested the refuel system to vent the fuel tank.
Refuel System Vented - Varies This parameter displays if the refuel system has completed the fuel tank vent process.
Service High Voltage Shutdown Stage 1 - Varies This parameter displays the results of Stage 1 test performed during the scan tool high voltage disable procedure. Stage 1 monitors that specific high voltage DTCs have ran and passed.
Service High Voltage Shutdown Stage 2 - Varies This parameter displays the results of Stage 2 test performed during the scan tool high voltage disable procedure. Stage 2 monitors that an active isolation test on the high voltage bus has ran and passed.
Service High Voltage Shutdown Stage 3 - Varies This parameter displays the results of Stage 3 test performed during the scan tool high voltage disable procedure. Stage 3 monitors that the high voltage bus has discharged to a safe voltage and that certain contactor DTCs have ran and passed.
Service High Voltage Shutdown Stage 4 - Varies This parameter displays the results of Stage 4 test performed during the scan tool high voltage disable procedure. Stage 4 monitors that stages 1-3 have ran and passed and that the high voltage service shutdown latch has been set to True.
Service Refuel System Indicator - Off This parameter displays status of the Refuel system malfunction indicator (LED, bulb, icon) visible to the operator of the vehicle.
Shutdown Mode - No Shutdown Mode is the semi-operational state while a control module is turning off. Shutdown mode allows time for house-keeping tasks such as writing data to stored memory. This parameter displays if the module is in the process of shutting down.
Stuck Open - No This parameter displays the contactors are commanded open because the module has detected one or more of the high voltage contactors will not close.
Warm-Ups Since DTC Cleared - Varies This parameter displays the number of OBD defined warm-up cycles since the last time codes were cleared with a scan tool or, when applicable, with a 12V battery disconnect. A warm-up cycle occurs after the propulsion system has been active for 1000 consecutive seconds with run/crank ignition active.
Hybrid Powertrain Control Module 2 Configuration/Reset Functions

Functions Description
Fuel Economy Reset This reset function is used to reset the learned Lifetime fuel economy displayed to the operator of the vehicle. The Lifetime fuel economy display will reset to the maximum limit.
Hybrid/EV Battery Pack Capacity Learn This reset function is used to learn the hybrid/EV battery pack capacity whenever the HPCM2, the Hybrid/EV Battery pack or individual hybrid/EV battery sections are replaced. Refer to the Hybrid/EV Battery Pack Capacity Learn procedure in Hybrid/EV Energy Storage.
Hybrid/EV Battery Contactor Open Reasons Reset The hybrid/EV powertrain control module 2, Hybrid/EV Battery Contactor Open Reasons scan tool parameter list identifies all past events that commanded contactors open. This reset function is used to set all history reasons for contactor open events to NO. Refer to Clear Secured High Voltage DTCs procedure in Hybrid/EV Energy Storage.
Passenger Compartment Heater Coolant Control Solenoid Valve Learn This reset function is used to learn the end-stop positions of the coolant valve.
Hybrid Powertrain Control Module 2 Scan Tool Output Controls

Output Control Description
A/C Compressor Speed This output control is used to command the A/C compressor motor speed.
Battery Charging System Efficiency Test (Active Test) This output control is used to test the power efficiency of the battery charging system.
Check High Voltage System Related DTCs
  • The hybrid powertrain control module 2 monitors for high voltage safety conditions. If these conditions are present the module will set DTCs and prevent high voltage enabling.
  • This output control identifies if the related DTCs have passed.
Clear Secured High Voltage DTCs
  • This output control is used to clear a latched high voltage (HV) lockout state.
  • The hybrid powertrain control modules 1 and 2 monitor for high voltage safety conditions such as airbag deploy events and certain HV system faults.
  • If these conditions are present either module may set a DTC and prevent HV enabling until after this Output Control is exercised.
  • Always refer to Clear Secured High Voltage DTCs procedure in Hybrid/Energy Storage service information for the proper sequence of procedures required to reset a HV lockout state.
    NOTE: Performing a scan tool DTC Clear may clear the diagnostic that set the HV lockout state, but will not reset the lockout.
Cooling Fan Motor This output control is used to vary the coolant radiator cooling fan motor between 10% and 90%.
Fuel Fill Door Lock This output control is used to energize the M97 Fuel Fill Door Lock Actuator which in turn Locks and Unlocks the fuel fill door.
High Voltage Disabling This output control initiates the on-vehicle control module software to attempt to disable and discharge high voltage outside of the Hybrid/EV battery pack. Always refer to the High Voltage Disabling procedure in Hybrid/EV Energy Storage.
Hybrid/EV Battery Contactors This output control is used to energize the high voltage contactors for diagnostic purposes. Refer to the applicable high voltage contactor diagnostic trouble code for setup and usage instructions.
Hybrid/EV Battery Pack Active Isolation Test
  • Vehicles equipped with high voltage storage and propulsion capability are designed with both the positive and negative high voltage circuits isolated from the vehicle chassis.
  • This output control commands the hybrid powertrain control module 2 to measure the isolation of the hybrid/EV battery pack
  • The following control limits apply:
    • All high voltage contactors are open
    • The vehicle power mode is OFF
Depress and hold the brake pedal while the vehicle power mode is OFF to wake up the modules prior to enabling this output control.
Hybrid/EV Battery Pack Coolant Pump This output control is used to vary the coolant pump speed between 20% and 80%.
Hybrid/EV Battery Pack Heater Passive Isolation Test This output control is used to energize the Battery Pack Heater while monitoring for high voltage loss of isolation condition.
Hybrid/EV Battery Pack Heater Power This output control is used to energize the Battery Pack Heater to confirm heating function.
Hybrid/EV Electronics Coolant Pump This output control is used to vary the coolant pump speed between 20% and 80%.
Passenger Compartment Heater Coolant Control Solenoid Valve This output control is used to energize the Q66 Passenger Compartment Heater Coolant Control Valve. The passenger compartment heater coolant control valve has two positions. When commanded in bypass mode, as when the engine is OFF, the passenger compartment heater coolant control valve separates the engine and the cabin heater control module coolant loops to prevent heat generated by the cabin heater control module for passenger compartment heating from dissipating into the engine coolant loop. After the engine starts up and is warmed up, excess engine heat is allowed to assist the cabin heater control module in heating the passenger compartment, the passenger compartment heater coolant control valve is commanded to link mode and the two coolant loops are connected.
Vent Refuel System
  • This vehicles sealed fuel system features a normally sealed fuel tank and canister to reduce canister loading during daily cycles. Unlike the EVAP diagnostic hardware from conventional EVAP systems, this vent solenoid valve is normally closed. This keeps the fuel vapor sealed in the fuel tank and canister. The vent solenoid valve is only open for canister purge, refueling, fuel tank pressure (FTP) sensor correlation or leak check with the EVAP leak detection pump.
  • This output control overrides the EVAP system control of the vent solenoid.
