Lane Keep Assist (RPO UHX)
Be aware that, in some unlikely situations, the vehicle steering wheel and wheels/tires may move without warning. Please be especially aware of situations when vehicle front tires are lifted above the ground on a vehicle hoist as the wheels could move without warning. Please exercise special care if any work is performed with the vehicle running and in gear while elevated on a hoist.
Lane keep assist may help avoid crashes due to unintentional lane departures. It may assist by gently turning the steering wheel if the vehicle approaches a detected lane marking without using a turn signal in that direction. It may also provide a lane departure warning system alert as the lane marking is crossed. The lane keep assist system will not assist or provide an lane departure alert if it detects that you are actively steering. Override lane keep assist by turning the steering wheel.
Lane keep assist utilizes the frontview camera module to detect lane markings between 60 km/h (37 mph) and 180 km/h (112 mph). Lane keep assist does not continuously steer the vehicle, but rather will provide steering pushback, keeping the vehicle in the intended lane, using the electric power steering. If steering pushback is not sufficient to stay within the lane markings, the lank keep assist system will provide an additional warning to the driver to maintain vehicle control.
The steering intervention is based on the forward looking sensor inputs, such as lateral offset of the vehicle, relative yaw angle and time to line crossing. Over that, other vehicle dynamics signals are needed, e.g. velocity, steering angle, yaw rate, etc., for the purpose of a driver suppression. The driver can enable and disable lane keep assist. The driver can also easily steer the vehicle over any lane keep assist intervention at any time.
