Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2013 Cadillac XTS. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Prepare the brake caliper bracket bolts and the bracket threaded holes for assembly:
    • Thoroughly clean the residue from the bolt threads with denatured alcohol or equivalent and allow to dry.
    • Thoroughly clean the residue from the threaded holes with denatured alcohol or equivalent and allow to dry.
    • Apply threadlocker to 2/3 of the threaded length of the caliper bracket bolts. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers  ,
    • Ensure there are no gaps in the threadlocker along the length of the filled area of the bolts.
    • Allow the threadlocker to cure approximately 10 minutes before installation.

  3. Install the brake caliper bracket (1).

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  5. Install the brake caliper bracket bolts (1) and tighten to 175 (129 lb ft).

  7. Install the brake pad springs (1).

  9. Install the brake pads (1).
  10. Position the brake caliper to the brake caliper bracket.

  12. Using a backup wrench to hold the brake caliper guide pin stationary, install the brake caliper guide pin bolts (1) and tighten to 63 (46 lb ft).
  13. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (With J64) , Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (With J55) .
