Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2008 GMC Yukon XL, 2008 GMC Yukon, 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2008 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2008 Chevrolet Avalanche. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Rear Parking Assist Malfunction
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the RPA display.
- Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the 12V voltage supply circuit terminal 1 and ground.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the voltage supply circuit terminal for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the object alarm module.
- Connect a test lamp between the 12V supply circuit terminal 1 and the appropriate LED listed below:
- Left amber LED control circuit terminal 2
- Center amber LED control circuit terminal 3
- Red LED control circuit terminal 4
- Command the appropriate LED ON and OFF with a scan tool, verify that a test lamp turns ON and OFF when switching between commanded states.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the control circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the object alarm module.
- If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the object alarm module.
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the RPA display.
Rear Parking Assist Disable Switch Malfunction
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the I/P multifunction switch assembly.
- Test for less than 1.0 ohm between the ground circuits listed below and ground.
- RPO X88/Z88 ground circuit terminal 3
- RPO Z75 ground circuit terminal 5
- If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance.
- Ignition ON, transmission in REVERSE, verify that the scan tool Park Assist System Status parameter is Enable.
- If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal 2 for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the object alarm module.
- Connect a 10A fused jumper wire between signal circuit terminal 2 and ground.
- Ignition ON, transmission in REVERSE, verify that the scan tool Park Assist System Status parameter is Disable.
- If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the object alarm module.
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the I/P multifunction switch assembly.
